Hot Desert

What would happen if it kept on raining in the hot desert?

File:Star Rain in the Desert.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

Cacti would absorb too much water. Some animals might die because they might find it hard to get used to the different weather. The sand might wash away or get soggy. There might be floods. Plants would start to grow but if there is no sun the plants might die. Jackrabbits won’t need to eat their droppings.

WALT: Compare and contrast the Raleigh Chopper bike to the modern bikes we have today

WALT: Make a book prediction on what a story could be based on the given keywords

W.A.L.T: Make a prediction on what a story could be based on the given keywords

Once there was a race for mountain bikers. The mountain bikers were timed by a stopwatch. The principal said that this was the school’s challenge. It had been Glenn’s first race. When the race had started Simon Foster was in the lead until he rode into a puddle and slipped. Around him were green hills. The hills were as green as moss.Simon tried to get up but unfortunately the puddle was filled of mud that he was stuck faced down. Then Glenn came along the track and saw potholes in the road. Then while he was riding down the track he saw Simon and decided to help him get out of the mud. Unfortunately Glenn and Simon couldn’t get Simon's bike out of the mud so then Simon decided to walk the whole way while Glenn rode his bike the whole way. Glenn was riding really fast that he was near the finish line which was down the hill. So he rode as quickly as he could downhill and ended up third place. Glenn’s Dad was really happy for his son so he decided to congratulate Glenn for coming third in his first race.

The bad things about watching tv

Bad things about watching TV Intro- we agree that tv is bad for us and we are going to be giving three main reasons. The first reason is that it affects our brain and the second reason is that it hurts our eyes and the third reason is that Tv makes you lazy.

Paragraph 1 - Watching Tv affects our brains because when you are sitting in front of the TV it leads you to aggressive behavior and TV might also change your brains in a negative way.How much television do you watch on a daily or weekly basis? toddlers watch a screen about two hours each day. As they grow older, television viewing increases. Young kids and teens spend as much as four hours in front of a screen daily. So, stop watching so TV and get on with your work. [Khushi ]

Paragraph 2 - We all know that watching TV hurts your eyes and it makes your eyes dry ,it makes your eyes dry by soaking all the moisture. It also burns your eyes and your eyes might get scratchy .Tv may cause eye strain and tv can also give you 7-10 seconds of blurriness. Watching TV from a very close distance is going to damage your eyes very badly. Children typically sit on the floor to watch television, with their heads tilted up. This causes more eyestrain than sitting eye-level with the television set. Again, eyestrain isn't a permanent problem but just be aware.[Jiya]

Paragraph 3- Watching TV makes you lazy and you don’t get much work done. Instead of watching TV you could be do be doing more energetic and fun things like playing outside, going for a walk and cycling.Your eyes could get sore and tired that means that before you go to sleep your eyes will get red and they might get itchy.Do some exercise ![Ameena]

So now you know that TV affects our brain,it hurts our eyes and TV makes you very lazy.So stop watching TV ! And get on with your work .Your work is waaaaaaay more important than sitting on the couch and watching that JUNK.

Being a kid is Better than being an adult

W.A.L.T Write persuasive writing Being a Kid is Better Than Being an Adult! Being a KID is waaaaaay better than being an ADULT! After you read this, you will be on our side. These are the reasons why. Kids don’t have as many responsibilities as adults. Secondly, they don’t have to take care of anyone else and finally, kids don’t have to go to work. Kids have more freedom. The first reason is that kids don’t have big responsibilities. Children don’t have to pay bills. For example, the internet bill, electricity, water, insurance, rent, mortgage payments and gas. Adults also have to pay for many expenses such as, money needed to run a car and take care of it, education for their children, after school care or activities and groceries. Adults lives can be BORING and DIFFICULT. It can’t be easy at times, having to earn and pay for everything! How stressful! Meanwhile, children just get to enjoy the things that their parents provide for them. What do you think adults , is all this work hard for you. ( Rachita )

The second reason is that children don’t have to take care of anyone else. Adults have to take of their children. It could be VERY , VERY BORING! They have to wake their children, get them ready, send them to school and pick up them up . All while they organise themselves as well. OMG! That's a lot of work. Adults have to run around a lot when they do all these things. The parents again have to drop off their kids at after school care and activities. It would be SO DIFFICULT for adults to sort themselves out.Think of how hard it would be to do all those things (Jiya )

The third reason is that kids don’t have to go to work. Adults have to go to work to earn money so they can spend it on their needs. While kids only have to go to school and at school there will be A LOT of fun activities. When kids come home from school they get to play whatever they want. Adults still will be at work or doing something like cooking or cleaning the house. WOW! Wouldn’t that be A LOT of work?(Sandhya)

We’re sure that you’re on our side, now that you know our reasons .Now do think that KIDS are better than ADULTS? Kids don’t have big responsibilities, kids don’t have to take care of anyone else and kids don’t have to go to work. Be totally happy if you’re a kid! BY JIYA ,SANDHYA AND RACHITA Teacher Comment - Well done girls! Excellent paragraphing and organising of ideas. I like how you have emphasised important words by putting them in capitals. Excellent use of adjectives/emotive language to help state your opinion (eg: Difficult, boring vs happy and great). NEXT STEP: Use questioning to make your audience think.
